Dr. Larry Obeda has been selected as new principal at Topsail High School.
Pender County Schools is pleased to announce that longtime educator Dr. Larry Obeda will be joining the district to assume the role of principal at Topsail High.
“We’re very excited to bring Dr. Obeda on as the newest principal here in Pender County,” says Pender County Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven Hill. “He has a long history of excellence in education and brings a wealth of knowledge to the position that we’re excited to draw on.”
Currently, Dr. Obeda is in his second year serving as the principal at Scotland County High School, following a six-year stint as principal at Lumberton High.
He also previously worked as the Child Nutrition Director for Robeson County Schools as well as an assistant principal and school counselor. Obeda earned his doctorate from Wingate in 2017 and previously served in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Obeda takes over for Dr. Michael Bracy, who served as interim principal at Topsail High for the 2020-21 school year.
“I am honored to serve as the next principal at Topsail High,” Dr. Obeda says. “My goal is to build upon the great things that are going on and to collaborate with all stakeholders on reaching our next milestone. Thank you for allowing me to become the newest member of the Pirate family.”
